Thirsties Duo Fab Fitted Review

This review is for the Aplix version of this Fitted Only.

Size 1 Fits:  6-18 pounds
Size 2 Fits:  18-40 pounds

Price Per Fitted:  ★★★☆☆  This fitted retails for $17 and is available through most retailers including my affiliates, links to right.  This is an average price for a fitted.  While this is an average price, Thirsties are unique in that you will only need two sizes to last from birth to potty and there are some very desirable features.  This makes this fitted worth your while and hard earned money.

Absorbency:  ★★★★★  According to Thirsties, this fitted can hold up to 18oz of fluid.  I have never measured how much my daughter pees, but it must be less than 18oz because she has never been able to pee enough to leak through this bad boy!  Right from the package, I was amazed at the quality construction, soft fabric, and the trim/fluffy appearance.  After a few uses, I was even more amazed because this fitted can take whatever amount of pee/poop my daughter can dish out!

You can add extra inserts into the channel design of this diaper for more absorbency.

Fit:  ★★★★★  I have only tried this fitted in the aplix version (a snap version is available).  This fitted fits perfectly!  The aplix closure is very sturdy and secure while giving the perfect custom fit!  I was also amazed by the generous sizing.  Of course, I read on the package that it fit up to 40 pounds, but I was still shocked when I put it on my daughter, I had to snap down the rise!  This fitted features, like many OS diapers, a three snap down rise.  Thirsties design also allows for the built in liner is only attached at the sides so the liner is in the right spot for any rise setting.  Also, since the liner is a “channel” design, you can add extra inserts if you need.  This fitted also features a soft elastic back waist and leg casings to hug baby without leaving marks and hold in mess/wetness.

Ease of Use:  ★★★★★  It cannot get easier than this fitted (unless you use AIO’s).  As far as fitteds go, this is the easiest!  One you get the rise setting where you need it, you don’t need to unsnap to wash; so no messing with this all of the time.  So you simply put this fitted on baby, two aplix closures, a cover, and you are done!  Easy!

Washing:  ★★★☆☆  Of course, the first time that I ever put this on my daughter, within 5 minutes, she had a horrible bout of diarrhea.  Of course!  In my pretty, new diaper!  But this was a great test!  This diaper is easy to wash, secure the aplix laundry tabs, and toss in the wash.  But, the pretty white interior is stained from my daughter’s diarrhea.  The stains are faint, but they are there.  I hope that a little sunning (when we have sun) will cure this.  I was sad to see how easy this diaper stained.

Overall Performance:  ★★★★☆  I love this diaper!  I cannot stress enough how well this fitted performed and how amazed I am at the quality, construction, and performance.  I love the fact that you can even stuff another insert in the channel if needed.  While staining does not affect performance, I was quite saddened by how easily this diaper stained.

Total Stars:  25/30

Sorry, no Under Cover Month giveaway today!!!  There will be a giveaway posted later today for another item that is not related to Under Cover Month.

  2. Is that a microfiber soaker? Do you know what the material of the stay-dry liner is?
