itti bitti Reviews and Giveaway

This review is for the itti bitti OS bitti Tutto, the itti bitti wet bag, and the itti bitti cloth wipes.

Bitti Tutto

Fits 8-44 pounds

Price Per Diaper:  ★★☆☆☆  This diaper retails for $26.95.  While this is moderately expensive for a diaper, this diaper does have some benefits and customizability that may be worth those precious pennies.  This diaper is available through my affiliate Kelly’s Closet, affiliate link to right.

Leaks:  ★★★★☆  I did wear this diaper on Miss A at naptime and for night use.  Surprisingly, I had no leaks at night, but did have a big leak during one nap.  How does that happen?  I attribute this nap leak to increased fluid intake during the day.  However, this only happened once.  See fit for another possible reason for this leak.  The tutto has a unique design for the inserts.  All inserts are snapped in with color coded snaps so you know which insert goes where.  This is great when you are folding diaper laundry and don’t feel like fiddling with figuring it out!  The inserts are trim and you can customize the absorbency depending on what your child needs.  Also, the tutto features a “poo fence” that runs along both sides of the diaper around to the back.  This contains all mess from leaking out!

Fit:  ★★★★☆  As with most snap diapers, I found that one snap setting was far too tight and one was far too loose.  For comfort, I had to go with the too big setting.  However, a diaper that is far too loose leads to leaks.  The bitti tutto does have a tremendous amount of snap settings, but my daughter is between snap sizes right now.  I do feel that this diaper has a nice fit though.  There is a row across the front of waist snaps and two snaps on each tab to prevent drop tab.  Itti Bitti took it one step further to have a better fit for newborns.  There is an extra waist snap further in the tabs that can be covered as the child grows so that there is no snap mark on baby.  When this snap is in use, simply tuck the cover into the hidden pocket, and when the child no longer needs this snap, simply cover it back up with the tab.  Also, the bitti tutto has cross over tabs, a must with skinny babies.  The front of the diaper also has the traditional 4 snap down rise to adjust the rise of the diaper as the baby grows.

Ease of Use:  ★★★★☆  Even now, after many uses with this diaper, it may take at try or two to get the snaps right.  I am certain that if this was the only type of diaper in your stash, that you would have no trouble.  Being that it is a snap diaper, this may not be the diaper for dad or grandma.

Washing:  ★★★★☆  This diaper washed very well.  The exterior minky fabric is still plush and extremely soft and the inside is still just as soft against baby skin.  I do find that with nasty poops, the diaper does stain a little.  I found that a little sunning or after a few washes, the stains do come out.  Putting the diaper back together after washing is a breeze with the color coded snaps.

Overall Performance:  ★★★★☆  I was very impressed with this diaper!  I really love the minky fabric and the customizable inserts.  I also really loved the hidden newborn snaps, this is a fabulous idea and I cannot wait to try this out with number two (someday)!  I was a little discouraged by that one nap leak, but it did not happen a second time, it may have been my error.  I would highly recommend this diaper, provided the parent did not mind the price.

Total Stars:  22/30

Daddy’s Thoughts:  He loves this diaper because of the color (green is his favorite) and the minky being so soft!  He has long ago gotten over his fear of snaps and would always gravitate to the minky green diaper!

Itti Bitti Wet Bag

Stars:  ★★★★★

I love this wet bag!  It is made from the same soft minky fabric as the diapers, so it is just so nice to touch!  It is laminated on the inside to lock in moisture and smell.  It holds approximately 4-5 diapers so it would be great for the diaper bag on an outing, daycare, day at Grandma’s, etc.  This wet bag retails for $14.95 and is available at my affiliate, Kelly’s Closet.

Itti Bitti Cloth Wipes

Stars:  ★★★★☆

Don’t let the 4 star rating fool you…I love these wipes!  These wipes are made from a super soft and luscious velour fabric.  They are plush, soft, and absolutely to die for!  My only complaint, and hence the 4 star rating, is that they can be too soft.  You are thinking, how can a cloth wipe be too soft?  Well, these wipes are so soft and luscious that I sometimes had trouble getting poop off of my daughter’s skin.  The wipe is just so soft that I had to apply lots of elbow grease to get the poop off.  Not that I want sand paper wipes, but I have used other extremely soft wipes that were soft enough for her skin but tough enough to get the poop off.  For pee only diapers though, these wipes are dreamy on Miss A’s skin!!

These wipes retail for $9.95 for a pack of 5 of these wipes (also available at my affiliate, Kelly's Closet).  They come in amazingly adorable colors and can even be folded and used as a doubler/booster in your diaper if necessary!  These wipes can also be used as wash clothes for baby or mom!  Definitely an added bonus when you can use them for multiple uses!

Ecoland Organic Cotton Socks Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Total Stars:  ★★★★★

One thing I love about doing reviews is finding companies and products that I would have otherwise never heard of!  This is just the case with the Ecoland Organic Cotton Baby Socks that I was sent to review.

Ecoland is exactly what the name implies, they are an “environmentally conscious” company!  This is fabulous for those parents (such as myself) that are constantly trying to find new and better ways to be eco-friendly.

First of all, customer service was wonderful when trying to get my product out for review.  I contacted them because I was uncertain of what size Miss A would need.  I got a response very quickly and they took the time to ask questions to figure out what would best fit Miss A.

I was sent a pair of 12-24 month baby girl flower socks.  Miss A is in a size 6 shoe and will soon be in a size 7, these socks still have room to grow!!!  The socks are made from 76% organic cotton, 22% nylon, and 2% spandex.  This is a perfect blend to give ultimate softness, comfort, and stretch to fit longer!  These socks are also available in toddler sizes.

I was thoroughly impressed with their customer service as well as their product!  These socks are comfy for Miss A, will fit through many shoe sizes, are adorable, do not fall down, and they are neutral to go with many outfits!  Even better, they are eco-friendly and made from organic cotton!  Love these socks!

You may buy apparel direct from Ecoland here.  You may use the coupon code “GRLFLW15” for 15% off of your purchase.  Or giveaway below!

Skin MD Review and Giveaway

Total Stars:  ★★★★★

Have you heard of Skin MD?  I had not until I was contacted by the company to do a review!  I am always excited to do reviews on products that I have never tried before and this was different from my normal fluffy reviews!

Just a few days after being contacted, a bottle of the Skin MD lotion arrived at my door along with their information and pamphlets.  I read through the materials and was very excited at what I read.  Skin MD is made using 100% solar energy, leaves no greasy residue, has no fragrances, no Parabens, no Petrochemicals, and no dyes!  Skin MD is also Vegan, Eco-Friendly, and cruelty free!  Sounds great, right?

Next came the test…actually putting it on my hands.  All I can say is wow, it felt so nice!  What they say is true, the lotion did not leave any greasy residue and felt light and soft on my skin.  I used it for a couple of days without any irritation or complaint before using it on the most sensitive member of our household…Miss A.

My poor little girl, she has terrible eczema on the backs of her arms.  I feel so badly because she gets it honestly from both her daddy and me.  Nevertheless, I tried the Skin MD lotion on the backs of her arms.  Again, wow!  The Skin MD made the dry patches so much smoother and has done wonders for making the backs of her arms baby smooth…as they should be!

I did try to take photos, however Miss A’s eczema was not dark red and did not show well in photos.  Honestly, you cannot tell a difference in the before and after photos…but if you could get a closer look and feel her arms…you would be amazed!!  The rough and dry patches are nearly gone!!!  I am in love with Skin MD and the wonders it has done for both me and Miss A!!

Monday Mommy - Jessica B.

Here is today's Monday Mommy...Jessica B.

Hi!

I'm participating in Monday Mommy today!  I absolutely love this site and jumped at the chance to participate.

A little about me - I am currently working outside the home but only for two more months.  At that time I will become a stay-at-home mom to my 3 1/2 yr old little girl, and my 1 1/2 yr old little boy, we are also expecting #3 in November.  In the fall we will also start our journey of home-schooling (this is what I am most scared about!).

This pregnancy has been 100% different then my first two and I am struggling in many ways.  It has been so hard on my body - I keep getting repeating migraines, my back and neck are giving me problems and I was sick for the first 3 months.... really sick.  Didn't gain any weight and food was not appetizing at all!

But....every time I see a newborn I just melt.  I can not wait to snuggle up with one again, watching that peaceful look come over them as they are nursing, and fall asleep as content as they can be.  Honestly the part I am most looking forward to again is breastfeeding.  I nursed my daughter till she was 14 months old, and my son until he was 15 months old.... I loved it.  There is nothing like being able to provide the most basic need of your child with just the body God created you with.  It's beautiful.

Now labor.....delivery..... I can do without.  My first pregnancy I was into labor on my own - labored at home most of the day, got to the hospital and within 6 hours my baby girl was born.  Not too shabby.  My second labor and delivery are still a fog to me - I can not tell you what time my son was born.  It makes me sad. I had to be induced with him due to medical issues and about 3 hours into it they gave me my epidural.  And then I don't remember anything until about the doctor asking me if I was ready to push and I told her I wasn't able to lift my head... I had been overdosed on my epidural!  Completely and 100% was numb from the neck down - it was the most awful and scary thing.   After my baby basically fell out - they gave me a shot to counteract the drugs and I then spent over an hour going through withdrawal.  My husband would LOVE if I delivered this third time with no drugs........

My dream.... a water birth... with no drugs.  But unfortunately my hospital does not offer them and my tub at home is not big enough for that to happen in. :(

I have also learned so much from our dear The Mommy Goods and am hopefully going to attempt cloth diapering with baby #3.  Although she may block my email by time I get it all figured out!

Please come visit me over at www.andtheycallherblessed.blogspot.com  where I blog about trying to raise my children in a Godly home while being the wife and child of God I was called to be.

Pregnancy Organizer and Planner Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Total Stars:  ★★★★★

For you pregnant mamas out there, those who have been pregnant, or those or are planning a pregnancy in the future…do you ever feel like there is just too much to keep track of?  I know that I do!  With my pregnancy with Miss A, I suffered from severe placenta brain.  *chuckle* But seriously…as soon as a thought would enter my brain; it was gone again!  At that time I was still working full time, we had just bought our house, and I was cruising quite quickly through my first pregnancy.  With work, doctor appointments, my husband’s schedule, and all other life items, it was hard for me to keep track of everything.  I can only imagine how hard it will be with pregnancy number two!

Insert the Family Facts Pregnancy Organizer and Planner!  This is one of those ideas that we all say…why didn’t I come up with that???  This organizer won an iMedia Parenting Award and was the editor's choice for Pregnancy Magazine!!  This is a perfect idea for those of us who suffer from placenta brain during pregnancy!!!  All of our important thoughts are rolled up into one adorable little planner!  Even better, as you go through the planner, there are little tips along the way!

This organizer starts off with calendars.  There are trimester reminder calendars, Monthly calendars, and then daily calendars.  These calendars are perfect for keeping track of every little appointment, meeting, family function, etc!

The second section is devoted to contacts.  This is where you would put the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the hospital, all doctors, other providers such as doula, labor coach, breastfeeding coach, etc, other important contacts, referrals, babysitters, and other emergency contacts.  This is perfect in case hubby, grandma, etc do not know the numbers and you are too busy breathing through contractions to tell them!  There is also a section for the “who to call after delivery.”  This is a great set of pages because you will hear a million times during your pregnancy “make sure you call me when the baby comes!”  There are too many people excited to meet your little one for you to remember them all!

The third section is the health section.  This section is all about your health and baby’s health.  In this section you will find pages for prenatal visit information such as weight, blood pressure, any test results, and what the doctor discussed.  This is a great place to write down what the doctor has said so that you remember it later.  There are also pages to fill in any lab results that you want to remember such as your strep and glucose tests.  There are also pages for your health insurance information, questions, and claims as well as blank pages to jot your questions for the doctor down so you don’t forget.

The last section is all devoted to baby and planning for baby.  From pages to jot down favorite boy and girl names, books to read, lists of items needed, baby shower information, gift list, hospital bag list, and more…you will be organized from the day the stick says “pregnant!”

In the very back of the organizer, there are also sheets of stickers to help you keep organized.  There are numbered stickers for each week of pregnancy 1-42, class, visitors, appointments, follow-ups, and many many more!  There are also plastic slips and folders to place any appointment cards, ultrasound photos, or other documents that you don’t want to lose!

I really love this organizer.  It is put together perfectly for a mother-to-be and will be an asset to any pregnancy.  We all need a helping hand when we are tired, pregnant, and suffering from placenta brain!  This organizer would be a huge help in keeping those “I can’t remember” melt-downs to a minimum!!!

Monday Mommy - Laura B.

Hi Guys!  Here is our Monday Mommy for this week!  I wanted to start off the Monday Mommy post with someone that you will be seeing more from!  She is one of my best friends (and has been forever!) but she is also the mama that got me started into cloth diapering, baby wearing, and more!  I guess, in a way, we have her to thank for this blog and I have asked her to become a contributer!!!  So you will be hearing lots more from this experienced mama!  She and I have been through so much together over the years, including being pregnant with our girls together, sharing our pregnancies, and then delivering exactly one month apart!  We are also great at confusing people, so bear with us!  We are both named Laura and our little Miss A's are only one month apart in age!  We will have to figure out a way to keep it straight on the blog, but we will figure that out later!  (if you have suggestions on that one, let me know!!)

Here she is...Laura B.

First of all I would like to thank my good friend Laura for asking me to share on her blog!  My name is Laura B and I am a mommy of two children. My son C is going to turn 4 in July and my daughter A will also be turning 2 that month.  It’s amazing that I have been a mama for almost 4 years now!  It’s even more amazing to look back and see how I’ve changed from the mommy I thought I might be, to who I really have become.  I had C vaginally after being induced with pitocin because of high blood pressure.  I started induction at 9 am and gave birth to him at 12:56 the next day.  It was long and hard labor, so I ended up with an epidural.  I at least got some relief to be able to push him out, because since they broke my water so soon at 2 cm, he was in the birth canal crooked.  I pushed for an hour and a half, and they had to use forceps and a 4th degree episiotomy.  He finally made his way out after the last contraction the Dr let me have before doing a csection.  He came out with a mark right beside his left eye where the forcep narrowly missed his eyeball.  I also tore to my anus.  He had come out with no crying, and the nurse had to pump air into his tiny lungs.  It was the most traumatic thing I have ever gone through.  Nothing, not even time will erase the memories of his birth.  It’s funny I read once where it stated that mother’s do forget the pain of childbirth easier than they will forget how they were treated at their birth.  I completely agree with that.  I felt as if I’d be pushed into this induction.  Doctor knows best I had always felt, and he said we should do an induction.  Well 2 days later I was induced after the NST where my BP was higher than he’d have liked.  When they wanted to break my water and I asked for a second to think about it, they acted as if I was an inconvenience and said well was I going to be induced or did I want to go home. How I wish I’d have bolted for that door!  I had no idea this was all optional!  But instead I did as they suggested.  In hind sight I feel like most all of those decisions led me to the traumatic birth I got.

After conceiving our second child, I was a different mama.  One who had triumphed and nursed her son to 15 months after a rocky start.  I’d had to use a nipple shield because of poor latch.  I never stopped when the road got tough and the pay off was unbelievable.  I decided to cloth diaper my son at 9 months after learning all the information on disposables, and realizing I could save my family money by doing cloth as well.  I was a mama who had found the love of wearing her baby close to her heart in a carrier.  I had most of all gained confidence as a woman.  When I went to see my OB I had a talk with him about how disappointed I was at my first birth and that things had to be different this time.  He actually apologized to me.  He is a wonderful doctor, but like most these days is worried about lawsuits and at times forgets what birth really is, I believe.  Birth is what we as women are created to do.  It’s natural.  It’s not something that needs so many interventions.  Are those interventions there when we REALLY need them a good thing, ABSOLUTELY!  But too often as in my case they can also lead to more problems!  Did you know that inductions give you a higher risk for needing a csection.  The more you add in medical intervention the more the “natural” gets stripped away.  I wanted nothing more than a natural, normal birth with my second.  And that is just what I got!

I went into labor 2 days before my due date.  I had no pain medication, and labored completely on my own. From the first contractions to pushing her out it was 12 hours total.  Pushed for maybe 3 contractions to get her out, it went so fast!  Tiny little cut that needed 3 stitches. Was it painful, yes! Intense, absolutely! Though more than anything it was beautiful, spiritual, empowering and healing for me!  There is nothing in this world that can compare to it.  Your body doing exactly what it is meant to do.  Now I am not saying that every woman should do things the way I did.  Or that at times interventions aren’t needed.  But if a woman truly desires to have a natural birth, she should be given the opportunity to have one.  She should be able to make informed decisions and not ever feel like she doesn’t have a say in what is going on.  It is her body and her baby.  We should all find a doctor who does that, who informs us and lets us know that we are top priority and not just a chart.   The more woman share their births and their true feelings about them, the more we can heal from them and change how things happen.  I hope that reading my story you are inspired to have confidence in your birth and know that you can be in control of something that at times can feel so out of control!

~I hope that you have enjoyed this week's Monday Mommy!  If you have questions for Laura B. or any comments, please leave them below!  Remember, Monday Mommy is an outlet for Mamas to speak freely about their experience as a mama.  Questions and comments are encouraged, but please do not post negative comments as they will be deleted immediately.~

Lovely Baby & Mommy CD Review

Happy Mother’s Day Mamas!  I hope that you had a wonderful day with your families and that they celebrated you for being a great mommy or mommy-to-be!  As a Mother’s Day Special review, I have been given the opportunity to review the Lovely Baby & Mommy CD!

Total Stars:  ★★★★☆

This CD is an amazing idea and would be a wonderful gift for any mama or mama-to-be!  Miss A and I really enjoyed listening to this CD.  It is very peaceful, relaxing, and makes the whole room feel soft and inviting.  Miss A liked to sway and giggle with the music and was just happy to play quietly when it was on.  My only complaint was that the baby voices were a little creepy.  I feel that the CD would have been better without them or with just cute baby coos.  However, Miss A found the baby voice hilarious and would laugh every time it was on.

Lovely Baby makes a ton of other CD’s for different occasions, different relationships, or they have their regular series of Baby CD’s.  The music is very relaxing, both Miss A and I really enjoyed the CD.  The hope of the Lovely Baby & Mommy CD is to strengthen the bond between Mommy and Baby.  I believe that this is true.  Miss A was quite content just to sit with me or play quietly while listening to the CD.  It was a nice way to slow down the chaos of the day and just relax with one another.

You can see the entire list or buy Lovely Baby CD’s here.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Rockin Green Review and Giveaway

Total Stars:  ★★★★★

Wow!  All I can say is WOW!  I have heard all of the buzz and wonderful things being said about Rockin Green Detergent for cloth diapers, and now I can say that I completely agree!!!

As always, when using a new detergent on my diapers, I ask myself those same questions.  Does it get my diapers clean?  Do they smell fresh?  Are the stains gone?  Do any stinkies remain?  And the answer…Rockin Green works like a dream!

First of all, Rockin Green has taken added measures to make certain that you are getting the best wash for your diapers.  Rockin Green comes in 3 different formulas: Soft Rock, Classic Rock, and Hard Rock.  These different formulas are specifically designed for soft water, average water, and hard water.  The type of water that you have may ultimately affect how your diapers wash, how clean and fresh they are, how well they rinse, and unfortunately, may affect your baby’s bum.  So figuring out what type of water you have and buying detergent accordingly, is a MUST!  To see a map of what water type is common in your area, please go here

Additional, Rockin Green (as the name implies) has taken that Rocker feel a step further into their amazing scents and their rockin names!  Smashing Raspberries, Motley Clean, and Bare Naked Babies are just a few of their original rockin names and amazing scents!  I was boring and chose Bare Naked Babies which is a lovely fresh but unscented scent.  I actually really enjoy that it is unscented and fresh, but I am also excited to try a scent with my next bag!

So, the part you are most looking forward to, how did this detergent perform?  The answer is: amazingly!  No matter how stinky, smelly, poopy, nasty, etc my diapers were, they always came out clean and fresh with no residue or stinkies!  I actually (on purpose) committed the ultimate crime and didn’t wash diapers for a week!  Yes, a WEEK!  I did this on purpose to see how the Rockin Green would do on those nasty, stinky, icky diapers.  And guess what, my diapers (after a normal wash routine) came out completely fresh, clean, and stink free!  If there was something higher than 5 stars or an A+, Rockin Green would get it!

Even better, Rockin Green is safe for us and the environment.  Rockin Green is dye free, eco friendly, naturally scented, has no fillers, no enzymes, no brighteners, phosphate free, vegan, and safe for even the most sensitive skin!  My daughter has by FAR the most sensitive skin around, and even she has absolutely no problems with Rockin Green detergent.  Since we have been using Rockin Green, we have been rash free!!!

Rockin Green can be used in top loader or front loader washing machines!  I have a front loaded and this detergent worked perfectly!!!  For machine specific directions or washing questions, go here!

Yes, Rockin Green Detergent can be a little pricier than other detergents at approximately $13.95 for a 45/90 bag of Soft Rock or Classic Rock and $15.95 for Hard Rock, but for the almost customizable options, amazing scents, and even better performance, it can be well worth every penny!  In all honesty, you are only going to save a couple of bucks by trying to find a cheaper detergent.  However, if you are in my situation and do not have a cloth diapering brick and mortar store nearby, you may have to fork out extra cash for the shipping.  This can mean the difference between buying an OK detergent and a Fabulous detergent.  I still gave this detergent 5 stars because many people do have access to brick and mortar stores and for those of you who don’t, there are shops that offer free shipping such as Happy Baby Company (which carries Rockin Green!!).

Overall, I am in love with Rockin Green!  It is now my go-to detergent!  I am so happy that I finally broke down and joined the Rockin Green fan club!!!

My Washing Set-up!  Note the bG pockets hanging to dry!

You can find Rockin Green Products at many cloth diaper retailers or you may buy direct from Rockin Green here.  Or, Giveaway below!

Prefense Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Have you heard of Prefense Hand Sanitizer?  Prefense is an all natural organic silica based (alcohol free) hand sanitizer that “smoothes, softens, and protects” your hands each time you use it!  Prefense is non-toxic, safe for kids and adults, and is a great alternative to alcohol based hand sanitizers.  Prefense is even effective against those pesky bacteria like resistant MRSA, E Coli, Staph, and Strep!  With just one application, you can protect yourself (and your family) for 24+ hours or 10 hand washings!

Total Stars: ★★★★★

I love this hand sanitizer.  It is a foam, just like many hand sanitizers out there.  So you put a little foam on and rub it around.  Quite easy to use!  This hand sanitizer feels nice and smooth as you put it on, rubs in fast and easily, and leaves your hands feeling clean.  There is no sticky residue, your hands are smooth, and smell fresh and clean.  I really love that this hand sanitizer is alcohol free so that it is gentle on hands.  This is important because my hands are always cracked and my daughter has very sensitive skin.  So this is great for both of us!  Also, I love that this product protects and smoothes your skin!  Anything that actually helps to smooth my hands is a huge bonus!  And best of all, as a nurse, I love to hear that this product protects myself and my family from those nasty germs and resistant bacteria like MRSA.  I am always worried about bringing those awful things home to my family from the hospital, so I love having this in my purse to protect me and them!  This is a fabulous product!
