Price Per Cover: ★★★☆☆ This cover retails for $15.95. This cover is in the average price range and has some really nice features that may make it worth your while. This cover can be bought Kelly’s Closet, affiliate link to right.
Leaks: ★★★☆☆ I did have one or two leaks around the front waist with this cover. Again, my daughter is a stomach sleeper, so this is a frequent problem with many diapers or covers, but this cover seemed to be more chronic than others. Happy Heinys went out of their way to put the best that they had into this cover (YAY!) however, the fabric edging covering the elastic around the waist wicked and my daughter’s clothes were moist. I never encountered a leak around the legs or at the back. The legs are fitted with inner gussets and the elastic in the gussets is made from soft elastic so that you don’t get marks on your child’s legs. HH recommends using a Happy Hempy fitted with this cover, I do not have one of those, this cover was only trialed with prefolds and other brands of fitteds; that may account for my leakage problem as well.
Fit: ★★★★☆ This cover fits well but it can be a bit of a challenge to get on due to all of the elastic around the waist. It features a gathered elastic back waist and aplix closure. This cover has the same fold over elastic as the pocket counterpart and the aplix is able to overlap in the front for skinny children. This cover also features a 4 snap rise which gives one extra setting over most other covers which only have a 3 snap rise. In comparison to some of my other covers, this cover does have a moderate amount more of fabric for the rise and I feel that it will fit longer than other covers.
Ease of Use: ★★★★★ It cannot be easier. Place prefold in or put fitted on, put cover on, use aplix to close, and done. This cover also features a laminated inner, so you can simply wipe clean at diaper change and reuse.
Washing: ★★★★☆ The inside of this cover washes perfectly due to the laminate and the outer shell washes perfectly as well. However, the fabric used for the edging around the elastic stains and becomes dingy. This does not affect the functionality of the diaper, but it does make the cover look old. Also, after a few washes, this same fabric tends to curl outward and sticks out which can be very visible through baby clothing.
Overall Performance: ★★★☆☆ This cover performed very well and I would recommend it, but it was not one of my personal favorites. The fabric edging became stained and dingy, I have covers and diapers older than this one that look much nicer. Also, the leaking around the front waist is a pain for me, but I attribute this mostly to my stomach sleeper. And finally, the curling of the edging fabric, this just annoyed me because it stuck out through my daughter’s clothes. And if she was only in her diaper, these edges sticking out just begged her to pull on them…and diaper off! So while it is a very reliable cover, it was not a great fit for us.
